Intersolar Stage

The ees Europe celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2024. In this session we will learn how it evolved from a small exhibition alongside Intersolar Europe to become Europe's largest and most international exhibition for batteries and energy storage systems. Special focus will be placed on the key trends in the BESS value chain.

Electrical-Electronic Engineer from the Faculty of Engineering of the UNAM, he has been active in the Renewable Energy business in Mexico, in large wind and solar projects since 2005, collaborating as an Independent Engineer for investors, project developers, as well as for the Mexican government and academia. In 2009 Jesús finished his degree as a Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Specialist at the University of Applied Sciences for Technology, Business and Design in Wismar, Germany. Since 2013 he has been involved in developing projects in the solar photovoltaic sector of Distributed Generation. In the same year he participated as an expert in Asia-Pacific Economies forums on energy efficiency for SMEs invited by the Ministry of Economy. In 2015 he participated in solar PV design activities and technical-economic analysis of the first large-scale solar PV projects in Mexico. Since 2019 and to date he works at TUV Rheinland Mexico in the Solar Photovoltaic business area, coordinating the support and services to customers in solar plants currently operating in Mexico and South America, coordinating also the performance, quality and safety testing of PV modules, trackers and inverters. ""Ingeniero Eléctrico-Electrónico por la Facultad de Ingeniería de la UNAM, ha estado activo en el negocio de las Energías Renovables en México, en grandes proyectos eólicos y solares desde 2005, colaborando como Ingeniero Independiente para inversionistas, desarrolladores de proyectos, así como para el gobierno mexicano y la academia. En 2009 Jesús terminó su licenciatura como Especialista en Energías Renovables y Eficiencia Energética en la Universidad de Ciencias Aplicadas para la Tecnología, Negocios y Diseño en Wismar, Alemania. Desde 2013 ha estado involucrado desarrollando proyectos en el sector solar fotovoltaico de Generación Distribuida. Ese mismo año participó como experto en foros de Economías Asia-Pacífico sobre eficiencia energética para PYMES invitado por el Ministerio de Economía. En 2015 participó en actividades de diseño solar fotovoltaico y análisis técnico-económico de los primeros proyectos solares fotovoltaicos a gran escala en México. Desde 2019 y hasta la fecha labora en TUV Rheinland México en el área de negocio Solar Fotovoltaica, coordinando el soporte y servicios a clientes en plantas solares que actualmente operan en México y Sudamérica, coordinando también las pruebas de desempeño, calidad y seguridad de módulos fotovoltaicos, seguidores e inversores.

The real issue is not the increasing energy demand but the slow transition to renewable sources, given the severe consequences of climate change. In this interview, we will discuss how to elevate renewables to the forefront of national agendas, drawing on the experience of REN 21. Additionally, we will explore why the LAC region has been more resilient to international energy price shocks compared to OECD countries, according to the latest energy inflation indicator of the OLADE.
